Sunrise Family Restaurant in Terre Haute

After being on the road from Texas for 7 long days we were looking for a restaurant with home style cooking. This is the best place we've had breakfast on our vacation. The staff is friendly and efficient and food was delicious!!! Awesome place to eat. Prices are great and the servings are too.

It's a very nice place to eat and you get great service. The staff are very polite. Most of the time you don't wait more than a minute or two.

This visit was exactly like every visit before, absolutely awesome!The food is outstanding every recipe is consistent every single time. A lot of times they're homemade desserts and the staff could not be friendlier or more professional. The owner takes personal interest in her customers to ensure they have a wonderful experience for every visit.You could not go anywhere else and get better food, better service or a better atmosphere.

Homestyle food with decent prices. I've only had breakfast here, but it's one of the better places. Beats the pants off Denny's.

Good down-home restaurant. Huge menu selection & daily specials. Inexpensive. Ordered the walleye dinner special: roll, salad, baked potato, mixed vegetables and fish for only $7.99. Husband got the turkey croissant with salad, $6.49. Nice size portions.

Good local diner with large portions, good service and an extensive menu where everyone will find something they like.

We stopped in on a Saturday evening and the place was pretty empty. When we walked in, we were greeted by the smell of a restaurant in need of improvements to the ventilation system. Overall, the food was good (my husband and I had breakfast skillets that were okay but needed more seasonings or a sauce) and reasonably priced. The air conditioning wasn’t working in the bathroom.

I love this place! I work across the street and always try to support family owned restaurants! Food is always good and the employees are great! I didn't like that I had ordered once and being right across the street asked if they could run the food across the street for me due to working alone and couldn't leave. Cindy ran it over to me and I gave a nice tip for being kind enough to do this for me but she mentioned she couldn't do it anymore. I really hope I didn't get her in trouble. Just all around great people good food! 💕

I haven't gotten bad food here ever & I took my daughter from out of town there yesterday. I was so embarrassed I could have crawled under the table. The food was disgusting. Salad was brown, food was not hot & had no flavor, sent my steak back you couldn't chew it & looked like it had been boiled in water. My daughter ordered a beef Manhattan & she said it was like eating cardboard with gravy on it. The worst part was when waitress came back dropped off check & says "oh your steak wasn't any better"?; all my food was sitting there & all she said was huh I'll be & walked away. That meal of a beef Manhattan & a half inch steak the size of a ladies small hand cost me $26 Never again will I return or recommend!!

We were just passing through and found this little cafe close to our hotel. We ate dinner there. It was great, so we went back for breakfast. It did not disappoint. Very clean, service was great, everyone was very friendly, and the food (comfort food) was wonderful! Prices were good as well. I highly recommend this place.

The Sunrise Family Restaurant has good flavors, good prices, and good service! The service was very fast from the time we walked in the door. This is a good place to go for a diner breakfast atmosphere.

Excellent food, the best cream of cauliflower soup I have ever had. Great menu, very friendly service in a cozy setting. Whenever I'm in the area and hungry, that's where I go.

The food was good but took a long time to arrive! But to be fair they were very busy! The servers were NOT friendly! We had to ask passing servers for coffee (our server was a no show) and they acted as if we were bothering them! Not a great experience and the only reason they are getting 2 stars is the food was decent (but not great).

I was extremely impressed with this restaurant! I had lunch here on a Friday. The parking is pretty tight but it's right on the road and easy to find. The restaurant is open and light. We were seated promptly and our waitress was cheerful and knowledgeable about the menu. I had the chicken dumpling soup and it was as good as my mothers homemade. I also had a hamburger with onion rings. Both were excellent. The food was reasonably priced. I will be eating here many more times.

Do you want breakfast? Hot fresh coffee? My wife and I arrived at 6am and they opened. We were greeted and ordered...pancakes perfect, 3 eggs medium, and bacon was crisp. Great staff. Thank you very much

BEST SERVICE. We had breakfast, good food. Very busy when we arrived but got seated very quickly. Our waitress waited & served us as if we were at 5 star restaurant. I can't give this place/ppl enough praise. Definitely going back but the secret is out BC anytime we're by there...always busy.

Visit about once a month, like Friday mornings for country fried steak breakfast with over easy eggs. Good coffee too!

Great meals, prices, and service!

Loved this place! Food was delicious, and our server Haeven was the best! I modified a croissant sandwich to a breakfast sandwich egg, bacon and Swiss cheese. Sooooo good. The pancakes came with hot syrup, which is something most places don't do and our server was diligent in making sure we had the best visit we could! I wish we lived closer because this would easily become our regular breakfast place! Highly recommend this place, I wish I could give it a higher rating!
